I chose to be verified by phone and gave my google voice number. It was pretty instant.

Re. Popstar: you also need to figure out what search terms people are using to find your type of service, then put those keyphrases in your description and services.

There used to be a way through gmail to get alerts for specific searches It seems to me you can get an alert based on the URL for your business profile? Just a thought
